TPG Role:

Gurmeet is a Partner in The Partnering Group and is based in India. She is responsible for TPG’s consulting and training work for manufacturer and retailer clients in India.

Partner Capabilities and Experience:

Gurmeet has twelve years of global work experience in the retail and consumer packaged goods industry. Her hands on experience includes retail store operations, inventory management and replenishment systems, joint retailer-supplier Category Business Planning, consumer and market insights and brand marketing. She also has strong operations and systems training experience. Her experience on both the retailer and manufacturer sides of the industry provides unique expertise to be an effective consultant and trainer in helping Indian organizations discover and implement the modern business practices that have been offered by TPG to retailer and manufacturers worldwide since 1990.

Partner Industry Experience:

Gurmeet has worked in US, Canada and India. On the manufacturer side, she has worked with Nestle, Coca Cola India in different marketing roles and helped these companies increase the sales volumes and brand identity. As a marketing manager for Kim’s Krafts Pvt Ltd, the first fashion jewelry company in India, she developed and implemented various best practices that improved overall business results. She also gained marketing experience in telecom sector working for Vocal Data Inc, a VOIP company while pursuing her Masters Degree in Texas. Her retail experience has been with Wal-Mart in Canada and India (the Bharti-Wal-Mart joint venture). During her seven years with Wal-Mart, she gained extensive hands on experience in Retail Operations, Category Management, Merchandising, Consumer Marketing, Inventory Management, Retail Systems and Associate Training and Development. Some specific projects she has completed in her retail and marketing work include the development and implementation of Category Business Plans; store layouts based on demographics, consumer insights and operational efficiencies; store backroom efficiency and wage control plans for increasing store’s profitability; and various advertising and promotional plans targeted to specific market segments.

Partner Education:

Gurmeet holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Delhi India, an MBA from the Aston Business School, Birmingham UK and MS in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a Microsoft Certified Professional in SQL Server.
