TPG Role:

Edgar is a Partner in The Partnering Group, consulting with both manufacturers and retailers.

Partner Capabilities and Experience:

Edgar will focus on Private Brand Management, Category Leadership, Customer/Joint Business Planning and Supplier negotiations.

Partner Industry Experience:

Edgar started his career working at Royal Ahold in the Netherlands in a fast-track Management Development Plan. He stayed with Royal Ahold for 18 years, working in several positions in The Netherlands, across Europe, in Asia and in the United States in line management positions as well as internal consultancy roles.

His Ahold career highlights include:

  • Vice President Private Brands Ahold USA, responsible for Ahold USA Private Brand Program (Sales: $8.3B; PB Share 37%; Assortment 8000 items); team of 130 associates; responsible for PB Sourcing & Replenishment; PB Product Quality Assurance, PB Merchandising & New Product Development, PB Brand & Marketing and PB Product-Design
  • Director Business Development for both Ahold USA and Europe, defining and implementing strategic initiatives across the Ahold banners.
  • Director European Sourcing, managing the European National Brand negotiations
  • Sr. Category manager, managing a portfolio of categories (sales ~ $1B)

Edgar left Ahold at the end of 2013 and started his own consulting company, focused on both Retail and Manufacturing clients. He has consulted in the Netherlands, USA, South Korea and Brazil.

Partner Education:

Edgar obtained a Master’s degree in Business Economics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with a Major in Marketing.
