Ian is Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Asia. Ian leads the team of TPG Partners who work across the Region with many of the CPG industry’s major Manufacturers and Retailers.

Partner Capabilities and Experience

Ian’s expertise lies in working with clients to build the right consumer and shopper insights and the design of category & portfolio strategy. Ian enhances the ongoing capabilities of clients by designing their organization to be fit for purpose and by building and implementing bespoke capability development programs to deliver strategy.

Ian’s core areas of expertise include category leadership/management, customer/supplier management excellence, revenue management – including PPA, promotion management and the optimization of supplier/trade investment – and joint value creation between suppliers/retailers. Ian is an expert in defining & measuring functional competencies for clients for their commercial functions and for shaping capability programs to build competency in client teams. He is leading TPG’s drive in eCommerce Category Leadership, shaping leading edge solutions for clients who need to build strength in this space. He consults for major global retailers and suppliers on these client solutions.

Ian has developed capability development programs for numerous Retailers and Manufacturers, with a focus on practical application of process & tools to the client’s live business issues – client personnel learn new approaches and apply them immediately to their own business unit/category. He is the author of three of TPG’s seminars; ‘Modern Selling Skills’, ‘Customer Decision Mapping’ and ‘Optimizing Trade Investment’.

Ian’s consulting engagements include leading a European organization re-design project for one of the largest FMCG companies in the world, to optimize costs and enhance the speed & efficiency of implementation from the centre to the individual markets across Europe. Ian also led the development and deployment of a global strategic sales capability program for a brand leading CE client for 20 countries across Europe, Asia and South America, which enhanced revenue, market share & margin for the client and their selected Accounts.

Ian has led several projects to develop Global Category Vision for clients that is relevant across the world. TPG have deep and relevant experience in helping clients deploy Global Visions to markets and then out to Customers, to drive growth in the Category.

Ian has worked in 48 countries across Europe, Middle East, Asia and North, South America.

Partner Industry Experience:

Prior to joining TPG Ian worked for Deloitte Consulting, as part of the management team in the Consumer Business practice. Ian also has extensive client side experience. Ian was the European Sales Development Controller for United Biscuits where he was responsible for enhancing the commercial practices of operating companies across Europe. Ian has also worked for Unilever, Coca Cola and the Mars organization, holding senior commercial management positions. He has personally managed 3 of the top Retailers in the UK.

Partner Education:

Ian has a BSc (2:1) Hons, in Management Studies from the University of Aston.
