The Partnering Group (TPG) was founded in 1990 by senior consumer product manufacturer and retail leaders. Our mission has always been to provide proven enterprise-wide collaborative solutions for the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry (CPG), worldwide.
TPG’s founders were at the forefront of a major shift in CPG industry focus toward driving value through consumer-centered strategy development, collaborative marketing, merchandising and fulfillment of products across the entire value chain. TPG developed and re-applied leading industry practices to assist clients in delivering incremental consumer/shopper value at the Manufacturer-Retailer-Consumer interface.
One of our Founders Brian Harris coined the term “Category Management” to reflect the ideal that manufacturers and retailers should partner to manage a consumer-defined category and develop and implement strategies to grow the category.
We designed and implemented the first multi-functional customer teams to enhance joint value creation and work with clients across many sectors to design and implement organizations to deliver growth strategies.
TPG also developed breakthrough consumer, shopper and financial analytic models and tools as the foundation for the development of robust Strategy, combining manufacturer’s unique consumer and shopper insights with the retailer’s insights into direct purchasing and total shopping behavior. These Best Practices, including Category Management and Assortment, have been adopted by retailers and manufacturers worldwide as the industry standard way of working.
