TPG Role:

John is a partner in The Partnering Group consulting and training with both manufacturers and retailers.

Partner Capabilities and Experience:

John brings vast experience and results as he consults on Manufacturer and Retailer Strategy, Training & Development of Selling organizations, Trade and Customer Marketing Strategies.  Customer and Category Management. John will also work on International Business Development and leverage his experience working with Private Equity Companies. Most recently, John has led major projects in both Consumer Electronics and CPG. The focus of these projects has been to create best practice Customer Management capabilities, develop multi-functional Customer teams and design category plans and organization training.

Partner Industry Experience:

John has 28 years of executive experience in the consumer packaged goods industry in North America and abroad. He began his career at the Procter & Gamble Co., and over 24 years advanced rapidly to Senior sales positions in Food & Beverage and Beauty Care in North America and globally. At P&G, John was the Global Leader of sales for the $3 billion Food & Beverage sector. John led the development of commercial strategies and “go to market” plans for three categories and four geographic regions, including new brand and geographic expansion as well as acquisitions and divestitures. International growth during this period was 70%+ of the growth. John personally led the Wal-Mart business, with growth outpacing other customers and P&G categories.

Concurrently, John led a multi-functional team to develop innovative shopper strategies connecting shopper insights into action plans that supported improved availability, shop-ability and shopper marketing at point of sale. John led the work to build a state of the art “shopper lab”, used for shopper research and customer strategy and planning.

John has extensive experience with trade spend best practices and sales and marketing reorganization. He led reorganizations in three different divisions that led to higher productivity and created a new “go to market “capability with the Sunny Delight Company.

John left P&G, recruited by the Private Equity firm as they purchased Sunny Delight from P&G as the Senior Vice-President of Sales for the United States and the General Manager for Canada and Mexico.

John has experience across all trade channels to include Grocery, Mass, Club, Drug, Dollar, Convenience, Food Service, Military and the Bottling organizations. He has extensive experience leading a team at Wal-Mart with past 5 year revenue growth of +16% compounded annually on Sunny Delight.

Partner Education:

John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from DePauw University. John held leadership positions on Campus to include the student body, Fraternity and as the captain of the tennis team.
