TPG Role:

John is a Partner in the Retail Practice.  He advises retailers, distributors and their suppliers in the areas of Finance, Buying/Merchandising Planning, Data & Insight Development, Collaborative Business Planning and Organizational Design & Implementation.

Partner Capabilities and Experience:

John is a retail executive with twenty-five years of leadership experience in retail, health care, merchandising, operations, sales and financial planning and analysis.  He has extensive experience inspiring teams to achieve business goals with leading retailers including Walmart Stores, Inc. and Albertsons, Inc.  He has led numerous strategic initiatives in joint value creation, category leadership, pricing reinvention, assortment discipline, inventory reduction, big data and merchandising transformation.

Partner Industry Experience:

Prior to joining TPG, John was with Walmart Stores Inc. where he led the Merchandising Solutions Team responsible for customizing merchandising strategies for high-volume and low-volume stores across formats, sizes and demographics.  Additional roles include Business Analytics and Planning, Pricing, Modular Development for Consumables and Health & Wellness and the creation of the finance organizations within Marketing and Private Brands. John has held multiple leadership positions in Albertsons, Inc (Finance & Strategy), The Chase Group (Controller & IT), and Kmart (Sales & Operations).

Partner Education:

John has a Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California State University.
