Bill is a partner in The Partnering Group consulting and training with both manufacturers and retailers.

Partner Capabilities and Experience:

Bill has extensive general management, marketing, innovation and strategy experience across a variety of geographies (North America, Latin America, Europe), categories (Health, Food & Bev, QSR, Pet), and channels (food/drug/mass/club/dollar, restaurant). Additionally Bill is on the Marketing Faculty of the University of California Haas School of Business where he teaches 2nd year MBA students Brand Management and Design and Marketing of New Products. His unique expertise is developing high-performance business and marketing strategies to accelerate topline and bottom line growth. Bill works with clients on strategy, brand marketing, new product innovation, commercial & business model innovation, shopper marketing, portfolio management and org design.

Bill brings 26 years of executive leadership in marketing, sales, innovation and general management across a variety of geographies (North America, Europe), categories (Health, Food & Bev, Pet, QSR), and channels (food/drug/mass/club/dollar, Pet Specialty). He led the turn around of Del Monte Foods tripling the market cap under his leadership. Bill has won multiple Effie Awards for his brand leadership and has unique expertise in developing effective commercial and marketing strategies to accelerate top and bottom line growth.

Bill spent six years in national account sales at Miller Brewing and Coca Cola and received an MBA from Cornell University.  Bill began his career in consumer marketing at Procter & Gamble. He advanced to key leadership positions on both large established businesses and new business ventures. This included new business acquisition and shopper marketing.

Bill served as VP Marketing at Campbell Soup and CMO of Taco Bell. Most recently Bill was the CMO of Del Monte Foods; a troubled company with multiple year negative sales trends. Bill’s marketing led turnaround plan delivered a three year 10% CAGR sales increase while the food industry was contracting. This lead to a 3x increase in market cap culminated by the purchase of Del Monte by KKR in a $5B LBO; the largest deal in 2011.

Based on this success, Bill has been asked by key investors and VC’s to consult on other start-up ventures in the digital marketing space. He is currently a Board member of Ooma, Rich Relevance and SpendGo and an advisor to Apptentive, Technorati Media, CPX interactive and several other firms in the digital marketing space.
